Variegated fairy-wren

If you are lucky enough to go to North Queensland it is hard not to be impressed by the spectacular electric blue Ulysses butterfly.

Well we have some such vividly coloured creatures here too (and they are easier to see). The terrific male Variegated Fairy-wrens are out and about in full plumage. There is also the Superb fairy-wren which can be seen locally which also possesses this amazing natural colour.

These birds were seen feeding in the Habitat near the sailing club along with a number of the impressive Red-browed finches.
